ROUTER: LINKSYS BEFW11
PC1: Desktop: Windows Media Center Edition, wired
PC2: Desktop: Windows XP Professional, wired
PC3: Laptop: Window XP Professionl, BELKIN FSD6020 WIRELESS
Conditions:
- all computers have the same workgroup name and identical user/passwords
- all computers DO NOT have firewalls
- PC1 disabled 1394 network connection (read something about it)
- PC1 is sharing a number of folders
- PC1 has simple sharing disabled
- PC1 has the "everyone" group removed from all shares and sharing
permissions granted to individual users
Problem:
Every so often I am unable to connect to the folder shares on PC1. I get
"network path not found". Although I can still ping the machine and access
it via remote desktop.
I should mention that I connect to my company's vpn every so often from
either PC2 or PC3 ( not sure if this would effect anything ) I have tried
rebooting all machines after connecting to the vpn and still have been
unable to connect to the shares.
Why would I be able to connect sometimes and others times not?
