Default failed ping

My PC fails its ping test to the server. The red 'failed' message appears against Network adaptors and the message is
'WAN Miniport(00458755) failed'

This is driving me mental. I have 2 PCs (one works fine). Both machines have similar set ups, and I am experiencing a problem with the one fitted with a Gigabyte GA 7n400 pro 2 mobo

Default failed ping

First, this may be a dumb question, but do you have a
firewall configured? I was once called into a job where
none of the PC's could browse the network, and it turned
out that they had installed Norton Internet Security
without setting the range of allowed IPs. Anyway,
something to look at.
