Hi, I have a small network with w2003 server, win 98, and xp pro. I cannot setup a connection to the 2003 server from the xp pro pc. I can ping the xp pro from the w2003 machine but not from xp to the 2003 machine. The network is setup as workgroup now.

One-way pings are almost always caused by a
misconfigured firewall on the un-pingable machine.
So check the LAN connection on the server machine and
ensure no firewall is blocking the pings.
Is something like ZoneAlarm on the server, and you need
to add the XP machine to its trusted local zone?
