Default Can't connect to IE6 but can connect to AIM and other Internet App

Hi,

I am usually good with software issues, but this networking issue is quite troubling. I use a cable modem and am behind a wireless router (Netgear MR814) plus XP's firewall. Upon starting my computer, all Web facilities are available - - Internet webpages, Instant Messenger, Web games, etc. After some time, for whatever reason, not clear to me nor listed in the Event Viewer, my connection while still strong for my other Web apps, disappears for my webpage viewing. I cannot view webpages and instead see the "Webpage cannot be viewed" or whatever page.

The only way to restore access is to restart my computer or restart my connection to the Internet; I seem to have chosen unchecking a Networking service then rechecking it, but this is getting tiresome and annoying. I know my replies may inquire whether my computer is infected and I can assure you it is not, I have fully updated and scanned with both virus scanners (McAfee and Norton) and Ad-Aware scanners and I have the latest updates from Windows Update. I run Windows XP SP1 and am usually quite good at diagnosing and solving my own issues, but this one is above me it seems. I have disabled my firewall and some router settings and anything running that might be interfering in some way. The strange thing is that my connection stays strong but I cannot view webpages. I saw on some other posts Winsock repair utilities which I will try, but I am wondering if this is the problem or if there is some other thing at fault here.

Thanks in advance,

Drew

Drew,

Try the Winsock repair first.

If that's not it, post ipconfig from your computer. Start - Run - "cmd". Type
"ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt
in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

Cheers,
Chuck
