Default Alternative TCP/IP stack for XP?

G'day folks, some background first - dial-up ISP account only, WinXP SP1.

Does anyone know of any way to get the TCP/IP stack in XP, (or an
alternative that can), resume a non-dropped dial-up connection after a
XP crash/restart/etc ?

eg. I dial up the ISP and start browsing, XP decides "I'll lock up".
This requires me to push the reset button, however the modem is still
online to the ISP, (&D0 parameter). After rebooting XP is back up,
however I'm stuck with having to hang-up the modem and redial, (costs
money).

Is there any reason why it can't just renegotiate the link and resume
communications?

I've used TCP/IP stacks on Linux, Apples and Amigas and they could all
do this simple task.

Anyone?

Dave
