I have a Packard Bell lap top loaded with Windows XP.
Its connected to the internet via my host PC which is
also running XP. I can browse the web without problem on
the client and host PC's but cannot download from the web
on the client PC. I can't even get the Windows updates. I
get an activeX security message! I have tried altering
the activeX and security controls to no avail. I have also
followed the windows trouble shooter on the Microsoft web
site, step by step, also without success!
The host PC will download without problem...........If
anyone can help I would be most grateful. I am no
computer whizz so a simple step by step solution is my
only chance of resolving this issue.
Please help..............John Kirkham (UK)

Your current security settings prevent running ActiveX controls on this
page....?
Go to either Internet Options control panel, or Internet Explorer
Tools/Options menu/Security Tab. Select the Internet Icon, then Custom
Level button. Find the Downloads, and select Enable. This might take
care of the problem. You can set Enable or Prompt for Run ActiveX
controls, but I do not think that is necessary for downloading.
