Default xp2 won't install, freezes computer

When I download sp2 (my software is all valid, btw), my computer freezes. I
restart and it goes through the regular startup screens (before windows
starts) and then I get the blue screen of death. I can only restart my
computer in safemode, uninstall sp2 and things are fine. (I would tell you
exactly what it says, but I don't wanna go through all that again, thinking
my computer is fried!!) I know I should contact the people in did up my
computer, but I am wanting to hear from anyone who has had the same
problem....... I am running WinXP 2002, Home Edition, Athlon 64 Processor,
2.01 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM. Thanks!!

I doubt the computer is fried; it works fine without the install, right?

Do you download a new copy of SP2 each time? The original might've been
corrupted, so make sure you get a fresh copy.

There are many discussions on the subject here:
