Default XP x64 support?

Has Microsoft already stopped supporting XP64?

I just recently lost Windows Live Mail Desktop Beta. I really liked that
program as it let me view mail from many different e-mail addresses at once.
But the last update, it dissappeared. Now when I go to the Beta page and try
to run the installer, I get a pop-up error telling me that Windows live mail
will not run on XP 64...

So I am just wondering if I shelled out $169.99 for a useless OS...

Will I find that more and more things will no longer work on x64?

<edit> I can't even seem to find the old x64 newsgroup... Not a good sign.
