I have a machine running XP with VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP graphics and I
have just installed the very latest driver 6.14.10.357. It installs OK but
when I go into Control Panel->Display->Settings I get this error:
"The currently selected graphics driver can not be used. It was written for
a previous version of Windows, and is no longer compatible with this version
of Windows. The system has been started using the default VGA driver."
What's the story with this? I am not happy with the display quality so I
suspect something is wrong.

You may have downloaded the wrong driver that is meant for an older version
of Microsoft Windows or the driver you have downloaded might be corrupt. You
can try downloading the driver again. You should post this in the Windows XP
hardware newsgroups.

Were you having graphics problems? before getting this latest driver.
Not all latest drivers work - sometimes it is better to revert back to an
earlier one.
Sometimes 'if it aint broke, dont fix' is the best fix.
What does the GPU maker have to say re their latest driver?

I wasn't having any problems - I just wanted to use the latest driver. I
have tried reverting to the previous driver but the same problem happens. I
have tried installing the driver recommended by the mobo manufacturer but
the problem still happens. Any thoughts?

One possible solution is to locate and install the correct chipset
drivers for your motherboard. This may reset the controls to
correctly detect the video card.
