I noticed when booting up XP lately, a cd ico appears in the taskbar
for drive e: my old cd burner and then shows on screen files ready to
burn for that drive...how to I not have that startup upon boot?

Oops! Got my sorting backwards. See your post "cd icon loads xp
startup" for the answer.
