Default Wrong Font in Popup Windows

Recently tried to backup my font folder (c:\windows\fonts) and now some of my
popup windows have fonts that are anywhere from 36-60pt and the popups, which
should be a small window on my screen, now takes up the whole thing and then
some. In many cases, the window is larger than the screen and cannot be
reduced, so the "OK" and "Cancel" buttons are inaccessible. It doesn't
happen on every popup but have noticed it during installs/uninstalls, some
program popup option windows, and the text in the XP "Turn Off Computer"
window (all the shows is Turn Of Comp). In on instance, installing Sony
Sound Forge, the install window font was only about 5-6pt.
All of the original fonts are in the folder but something tells me that
there maybe something in the registry. But before I go looking, I'd like
some advise.
Also noticed some particular fonts that I had not seen before. They were
global composite fonts. Are these something to be concerned about?
Thx in advance. JG
