Default WinDvd is a rippoff

I bought windvd and they sent a serial number and the number is wrong
says their site when I try to register. I have made it through their
maze of questions they use to avoid servicing their product and asked
for help. It's been over a week and nothing. Clearly they are ripping
me off.

Why'd you buy a product like WinDVD?

And if its junk/useles or worthless, why would they drag their feet
regarding a serial number? Somebody's fishing for a number, methinks.

There are different versions of Intervideo WinDVD from Corel. Are you sure
that the serial number corresponds to the correct version of WinDVD that was
downloaded?

Since Intervideo WinDVD is owned by Corel
(http://preview.tinyurl.com/2e5v37), what prevented you from calling
them for support? Oh yes, Corel is in the business of ripping off
customers <roll eyes>. There is no such thing as absolutely
guaranteed e-mail delivery. Your mail could've been lost in transit,
deleted by a mail server problem, dumped in a spam/junk folder, or had
to make the rounds getting passed to different people at the company.
And similarly, their reply could've been lost in transit, dumped in
your spam/bulk folder or deleted upon delivery, or whatever. For
critcal communications, don't depend on e-mail (whether it is an
actual e-mail or a message sent using a web form at their site).

Looks more like a PEBCAK error, to me. Your moniker reveals your true
intent. Feel better now that you vented your rant on your inability
to deal with life?

Why would you buy WinDVD when there are so many programs that do the same
thing for FREE?

VLC, Media Player Classic, and GOM Player should all handle playing DVDs.

They may even do it better than WinDVD.

And they all cost $0!

If the OP had wanted WinDVD, it also comes free with some of the upscale
video cards and motherboards. No need for the serial number...these OEM
copies of WinDVD are automatically activated on installation.

Doubtful. He could easily find one on Google Groups. But why bother? Most
DVD drives come with a free copy.
