Windows sp password not reconized

Hi all

I have a windows sp sp2 installation with all the updates.

If I lock my pc and then attempt to get back into my account I cant
get in as XP doesnt reconize my password, or any other users password
on this machine. This problem happens intermittantly, but the only way
I know around it is to reboot. When I have rebooted it begins to
recnize my password and normal service resumes!

It tends to happen when the pc is locked for long periods say a couple
of hours, or I have put the pc in hibernate mode. Also for all other
accounts on the machine, it doesnt reconize their password.

What is causing this?

Any ideas anyone?
