Windows screensaver requires me to click on my name
Now, when I leave my computer for a while and the screensaver clears the
monitor, I move the mouse to get a screen again and now am required to click
on my name before I can continue. How can I stop that. These problems
arose when I installed .NET.

Right click a blank area of the desktop | properties | screensaver tab |
untic "On resume, password protect" | Ok out.

From that same screen click on the Power setting button and check your
settings there.
