Windows Explorers hangs (freezes) and AUTOPLAY is disabled
I have WinXP home SP2. After some cleaning of PC with third party software (I
know I ******* up) Windows Explorer hangs without any apparent reasons and
Autoplay is disabled on all discs including removable and mounted.
I already checked http://support.microsoft.com/search/...21&range=1-43#
As I stated above I cannot see any specific reason for hanging.
I tried to repair setup by inserting REinstallation CD and typing /sfc
scannow in RUN box (was advised to do so on other forum) - nothing happened.
For autoplay I tried to "start>run>regedit>
navigate to
HKLM>System>CurrentControlSet>Services>Cdrom
change the dword value of "AutoRun" to "1" from "0"
As was advised somewhere else - I have "1" already.
I am out of ideas (I really don't want to reinstall Windows)
Please help
Re: Windows Explorers hangs (freezes) and AUTOPLAY is disabled
You should have typed sfc /scannow is that what you meant.

Re: Windows Explorers hangs (freezes) and AUTOPLAY is disabled
Try running sfc /scannow in a command window rather than a run box. Type
"cmd" in the Run Box to start a command window.
