Default Windows acts as if left arrow key is stuck

I've had this strange problem pop up with Windows XP Pro SP2 a few times over
the last few days. My computer seems to act as if the left arrow key is
stuck; attempting to access the menu bar in any program results in the menus
scrolling rapidly to the left, the cursor goes backwards to the start of text
boxes after every keystroke, etc.

I've tried unplugging the keyboard and plugging it back in, but that doesn't
solve the only problem, the only way I've found to fix it is to restart
Windows.

Hello,

If no other suggestions appear, try using another keyboard and see if the
problem returns.

If SingaporeWebDesign's suggestion of trying another keyboard doesn't
work (and that's the first thing to do), then try another mouse. Also,
if the keyboard and/or mouse are wireless, replace the batteries.

Any chance you have single-click activation turned on? If so, try turning
it off.

If not, I think I'd try another keyboard before moving on to more work.
