Default Win XP won't recognize flash disk

I installed Adobe Photoshop Starter 3.0 a while back. Since that time
Windows XP will not recognize my flash memory disk whem I plug it into the
USB port. I have removed Photoshop Starter 3.0 from the computer, and it
still does not recognize the flash drive. Anyone have any suggestions?

How far back does that go, Bill.

My Datatraveler worked when I first installed XP, and I was well chuffed;
but soon after it stopped being recognised - I don't know why - though it
still works on my 98 box and me digital pianner.

All other USB stuff works fine.

I've tried various suggestions, like uninstalling all USB and letting it
all get found again, and they didn't work.

I've never used System Restore, and it might take me uncomfortably far
back; I also have not been desperate enough to try a repair install - do
you think that would help.

Well for starters, make a new one now and you can always jump back to
now. How far back depends on a lot of things. But up to 3 months back
isn't uncommon.
