I am using a Sony Vaio VGN series laptop with 1gb memory and an 80gb Hard
drive ATI Radeon Mobility x600 and windows xp home. The laptop came pre
installed with some software and has recently been reset to factory
settings. Firstly whenever I boot, it takes ages for all progs to load
especially Norton protection centre (which comes as part of my isp services
package) Now I do not have this same problem on my PC and it has Norton and
more besides but boots in a very quick time.
Do I have enough Memory allocated? I have 1500mb in my pagefile out of a
possible 1gb is that enough or too much? How do I find out what is causing
Norton to take so long to load?

Is the system clean of malware? How do you know? What non viral
anti-malware software do you run? Just in case here are some links for
cleaning malware.
