No Win7 group on msnews. Very likely won't be. MS seems to prefer Web based
forums these days. Same old, same old. What they want, not what users want.
There seems to be a shift away from newsgroups towards web forums. I noticed
a diminishing participation in other popular newsgroups, like
alt.home.repair. I will miss the groups, but time and progress moves on.

FWIW I find web based forums preferable because they are moderated. As a
result they are not filled with all the spam you see in NGs. That's an
improvement IMHO.

No argument on the spam point. Now if something could be done about it in
these newsgroups, that would be the best of both worlds, IMO.
I like the ability to remove old posts and just keep the current and active
ones. I never keep posts more than 10 days unless they are still obviously
active. Being able to trim is a real plus, at least from my point of view
primarily as a responder and not an OP. Neat and trim.
P.S. If you really want to see some morons, go to the windows.vista.general
group.

I'm even more extreme than you are. The only newsgroup posts I keep
are those I haven't read yet. Once they're read, they're gone. That
makes far fewer posts to have to wade through.

alt.windows7.general. I have yet to see any MVP's to confuse everyone .
