Default Upgrading Windows 2000 to Windows XP prohibited updates installati

Hello!
Upgrading Windows 2000 sp4 to Windows XP sp2 prohibited updates
installation; controls on "Automatic updating" tab in System properties are
grayed out. Windows suggests to install automatically downloaded updates,
tries to install them and then writes that it could not install. How to
recover the ability to install updates?
Best regards,
Dima

Thanks DL for your reply!
My Windows XP is the corporate version, which does not need the activation.

Dima
