Default trading svchost.exe for cidaemon.exe

What does the cidaemon.exe process do? In "fixing" the svchost issue I now
have a cidaemon.exe taking 96+ percent of my CPU time.

I'm starting to feel like the guy with glasses on the Mac commercials.

Thanks for any help........

Cidaemon.exe is a Microsoft indexing services.
Windows XP may run slowly and you may see multiple symptoms in Windows Task

Hi Kim,

That process is the MS indexing service. Its perfectly normal that it is
working like that, as long as your PC is still responsive.
100% CPU does not mean your CPU is totally maxed out. This is because of the
sample time in task manager is way much longer that kernel quantum time
slices. In task manager processes, Select View / Select columns and add the
CPU Time checkbox.
Now, if that is ticking over on a single process at one second intervals on
any process (other than the System Idle Process) then that process is a
problem in that it is hogging resources.
