Default startup problem

When I switch my machine on, instead of going to the log on user page, there
is a blank screen and if i leave the machine on it take a good 10 mins to get
to that page. I know this is not normal, so please if anyone can help i
would appreciate it. Also sometimes nothing happens at all so i switch the
machine off at the back, don't know if thats ok but there is no way of
turning computer, and I have the same problem after i shut down, the
computer just freezes on "the system is now shutting down".
Thanks

Click on Programs Tab and then click the Manage Add-Ons Button there Disable
the None/Not Verified Plug-ins/Add-ons ( you need to Renable them one-by-one
later and see which is the culprit or you can send them here in your next
post) and click [OK] to confirm your Changes.

Click on Advanced Tab and scroll down under the browsing option and uncheck
this box:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) and click Apply
then OK to close your IE Properties.

it seems that the pc is
stalling at a point by
a hardware device or
problem loading the
registry hive.

yes.
restart into safemode/networking
and work in that mode as you
would in normal mode and see
if the problem exists there as well..
