Not exactly sure how to phrase question but until recently was able to
operate both the desk top speakers and a remote speaker from my Windows XP
Home setup..(I have received the RTHOCPL.EXE-DLL error message... ) Not sure
the reason but one of the outgoing ports on the back of the computer is not
sending "sound"..Do I have to reset something?

A Google Groups search found no other hits on an RTHOCPL error message.
So I suspect you have a virus, or a unique .dll from a new, or
seldom-used sound card.
Restart in "Safe Mode with Networking" then go to the following site.
Run the free online antivirus check:
Thanks ..did that...is there a further suggestion?
Still operates only from the one "plugin" in back..(green one) not the blue
one..I do basic

Maybe you should see if there are updated sound drivers. General driver
information:
Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:
1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).
Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers.
To find out what hardware is in your computer:
1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific
model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers
anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.

a shot in the dark, but it might help. whenever I update the drivers -
I also have realtek - I need to unplug the speakers and plug them in
again. I have no sound if I don't do this. Give it a try, who knows?
