skype with sound card and front panel port problem
Hi,
Not sure about the group.
I have skype installed on my computer (XP Pro) with a sound card in the back
and speaker/mic ports on the front. My Skype headphone set it plugged into
the front panel of the computer. How can I get the music to come out of the
speakers (plugged into the sound card at the back) and the skype sound to
come out of the front panel (but not the music). A double bonus would be if
skype also rang through the sound card as well as the front panel but the
voice didn't.
So far I have only been able to get everything coming out of both places.
Cheers
Lenny
Re: skype with sound card and front panel port problem
Lenny,
What version of Skype are you using?
3.5.0.239 is the latest version & a few versions prior to that had sound issues. I know as
I reported them to Skype myself
TOOLS | OPTIONS in Skype then the Audio tab on the left will allow you to change the
device you are currently using. If that doesn't work then change your preferred device in
Control Panel
Last resort would be to contact Skype (support@skype.net) & just hope you don't get Indrek
replying to you as she is totally useless. She'll give you advice like make sure you put
your car in the garage before opening Skype or turn off your washing machine as her
knowledge of computers is absolutely zero
Good luck

Re: skype with sound card and front panel port problem
thanks for that. I am using the latest version and I have looked at all the
options and also the help pages in which they mention using the drop down
box and clicking on 'your USB sound device'. That is where the problem
occurs. I am not using a USB device and the only option in the drop down box
it the sound card that is installed. There is no other option.

Re: skype with sound card and front panel port problem
Lenny,
Your headphones from the front soundcan connections won't show up
The sound USB device will only show up if you have installed the driver
