Restore Points-3rd attempt

This is the 3rd time I am posting this. The first 2 posts never showed up.
Am I doing something wrong?
When I open System Restore "checkpoints" are listed and "Software
Distribution Service 3.0" is often listed. Does anyone know what this means?

A checkpoint gets made every day. The ones labeled Software Services are
ones made before installing Windows Updates.
