i have a motorola wireless phone and my carrier said that the phone can be
used for a modem on my laptop. i went on the motorola website and got the
drivers for my phone and downloaded the drivers to my laptop. when i
installed the drivers on my laptop and hooked up my phone to my laptop it
says that the instalation could not be finished due to a cryptographic error
due to local security settings. does anybody know is the driver i downloaded
bad or is the security on my computer to harsh and how can i go about fixing
it?

they said that my laptop meets the requirements and when i told them of the
cryptographic error they said that they could not help me and that i sould
talk to microsoft about it because it was about a setting that was enabled on
my computer. i do not know what setting that it could be and is it really a
setting on my computer causing this?

What is the *exact* text of the error message? Try googling with that as
the search parameter.
The problem likely isn't that the download is bad, and do ensure that the
cryptographic service is actually running, and that your account is
Administrator level.
