It has happened to my 590sli and another Asus AM2 board. The problem is, I
don't know if it is an issue with XP, AM2, nVidia or me.
I just installed XP on another new build and I don't know what I am doing
wrong, but now it won't restart or power off. It will shut down, screen goes
black, but the pc lites, fans, etc. continue to run and I have to hit the
power switch manually. Because of this, xp wont restart either after any
updates or programs are installed, as I have to manually restart the pc. I
wasn't sure when the problem would occur, so this time I reinstalled xp/sp1,
rebooted properly, then the chipset drivers, and now it wont reboot by
itself. I've read other posts with the same problem, but haven't found any
answers.
This is the second build it has happened on and I'm looking for any kind of
answer. Knowing me it is a small problem, but I can't figure out why it is
happening.
Well if you're using any of the same hardware from one build to the other I'd
start there - esp CPU.
