Default "Open With" problem

Running xp sp2. I have a .vbs login script that is applied when users log in
to the domain. On one XP machine at one point the vbs files was set to "open
with" notepad. And the option to "Always use the selected program to open
this kind of file". How do I reset this. Now at everylogin the vbs script is
open via notepad.

I just want to make it go away.

Thanks,

Download and apply the VBS File Association Fix (Restores default associations for VBS files) from here:

Default RE: "Open With" problem

Hello,

Thanks for posting here, and thanks Ramesh for your sharing.

You can also perform the following steps to reset the file type association
manually:

1. On that Windows XP computer, manually create a TXT file and rename it
with a VBS suffix.

2. Right click the file--->Open with--->Choose Program, choose the
'Microsft (r) Windows Based Script Host' with the 'Always use the selected
program to open this kind of file' option.

3. If 'Microsoft (r) Windows Based Script Host' is not listed. Click
Browse… and type "%systemroot%\system32\wscript.exe" with the 'Always use
the selected program to open this kind of file' option.

Hope it helps.

Sincerely,
Miles Li
