IP DRIVER ERROR after installing windows Update

I have Windows XP Sp2 .. and i had configured it to automatically
update everyday. a few days back after automatically installing some
update (I dont know which update it did) i couldnt connect to my
internet (Which is a PPPoE connection) the dialer said that i had the
LAN cable uplugged or else there was some configuration error. (I use
Win XP Sp2 Edition)

When i double clicked the Network connection properties there was no
data transfer being recorded, when i tried viewin the IP address it
said it was <UNAVAILABLE>

Since then when i try to ping it gives me an IP DRIVER Error 2.

I have tried deleting the Winsock & winsock2 registry and a few other
stuff mentioned on the group but nothing has seemed to work.

It would be great if there is some solution to fix this.
