That's not correct. XP, Home and Pro, will support a processor with
multiple cores including the Quad Core. XP Home can only support one
physical processor chip but it supports multiple cores. Pro supports
multiple chips with multiple cores.
Vista is the same. Home versions - single chip, multiple cores; Business,
Enterprise and Ultimate it's multiple chips, multiple cores.

One correction, XP Pro supports up to two separate chips.
