Somewhere other than in Internet Explorer>tools>Internet Option, I have
changed one or meor settings for IE. What ever browsing history I develop in

lost when I exit IE

What version of IE?
If IE7, the recommended newsgroup is
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In a proper newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...plorer.general

If you must use a web interface:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...plorer.general

If IE6, try:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...er.ie6.browser

Go into the properties and see if your personal data is being cleared
when you close IE.

The properties in IE, of course, where else? Are you running IE6 or 7?

IE-7
When I click on File>Properties I get the properties for the Internet site I
am in, nothing to do with settings.

I don't use IE7 but do not open IE. Right click on the IE icon on your
desk top and go to Properties/Internet Options or whatever is similar to
that and then look under the Advanced tab and see if your IE is
configured to remove private data upon closing IE like temporary
Internet files or cookies.

That said, I would recommend that you only use IE for IE specific web
sites and use Firefox for everything else. Get it at
www.mozilla.com/firefox.
