I recently installed some programs, and now when I reboot, I get the
screen that has my username and is asking for a password, even though
there is no password.
I don't want any screen. I just want to boot and see my desktop. I tried
going into Users, in control panel, but didn't see where I could change
anything.

Hi Chaz,
Try this,
Start, Run, type control userpasswords2 and click OK.
Uncheck the box that requires users to enter a password.
Click on your own account name.
Uncheck the box that requires the users to enter a password.
Click OK.
Enter your current password when prompted.

Go to Start | Run, type "control userpasswords2" Select the account you want
to logon to automatically. Then uncheck the box "Users must enter a user
name and password to use this computer."
Or do the same thing with TweakUI.

Then expand the Logon option and select Autologon and Check the Autologon
box.
OR
Start/Run and enter: CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2
On the User tab: pick (highlight) the account you want to automatically log
on
Then uncheck: Users must enter username and password
Next click Apply and enter the password (if the account you pick has a
password)
Finally click OK until your completely out
