I need my DESKTOP pics back

I have downloaded all kinds of fix~its to NO avail. I can change the color
of my desktop, & when rebooting, the pic shows up then disappears when it is
through booting up. My screensaver is working great! Can someone please
give me some help on fixing this problem!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

1) open up the desired pix with [Windows Picture and Fax Viewer]
2) right click on the picture, then left click, "Set as Desktop Background"
