When you are doing what? browsing the web? Posting to newsgroups? sending
email?

You can't. All the IP address does is tell you what ISP people are using...

The browser sends a USER_AGENT header that has information about the
browser and OS. But that header can be omitted or spoofed. IIRC, Opera
can be told to tell the web host that it's any other browser.

There is no reliable way for a web host to know what OS and browser
the client is using.

Browsing the web, posting to newsgroups, and sending email.

Lots of info can be found from your posting header, although I personally am not
bright enough to know if you're using Windows.

so could you some how redirect the browser from sending a user_agent
header with the Host File?
here is an ad-on for firefox that does what your talking about but is
there some other way you can do it like opening up the header file with
notepad or something https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/967
thanks for the info I appreciate it

We have reached the outer margins of my expertise on this so I won't be of any
help past this.
