How to Allow a Limited User to Install Software Using GPO
Can anyone tell how to do this please. I went into GPO using
gpedit.msc
then under the following paths: User Configuration --> Administrative
Templates--> Windows Components
Enabled the following:
Windows Installer
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
then under the following paths: Local Computer Policy--> Computer
Components --> Administrative Templates-->Windows Components
enabled the following:
Disable Windows Installs
Prohibit User Installs
Always install with elevated priveledges

Unfortunately the above link is to the same question I had posted and
in which the helpful solutions did not work. Hence for the reason for
the postings again.

Then post a reply to your original thread, not a new thread with the same
subject.

mind when posting to the same group. Cheers.
Re: How to Allow a Limited User to Install Software Using GPO
Then perhaps no one had anything else to suggest? Or perhaps they thought
it was a ridiculous idea in the first place to allow a Limited User to
install anything, thereby defeating the purpose of a Limited User Account.

I understand what your saying but can you tell me then what other
method would be appropriate to allow a user to install software but
not give them administrator rights ? How about making the user a power
user then stripping all other rights ? Could you tell me the best
place to figure out how to do this ?
