There is a file, hgcheck.exe that always starts on boot and runs in the
background. I have tried unchecking it in startup in msconfig but it always
rechecks. I can not find anything on this file when I Google it. Does
anyone know what this file is?

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.
