Help can't download anything!

just a day ago all of a sudden I cannot download anything. I dont have any
viruses or anything as I ran all the scanners I had on comp, I thought maybe
it was them and deleted them too but obviously not and now can't get them
back. flash and shockwave no longer work on computer, all screens are white
and I cant re download them either. Whenever I try to download I get the file
download box but it doesnt start and then the error message

Internet explorer cannot download blahblah.exe from blahblah.com and

The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try
again later.

The rest of IE 6 works fine just no downloads whatsoever I havent downloaded
anything recently and I use the same sites every day so how did this happen

This is NOT a reply or solution. I too have the Same problem and wish not to
start another thread. Added info: Firefox works, some sites will download in
IE.
