Default group policy editor

i have heard about the system changes that can be made using the microsoft
policy editor, but have read that its only available in xp professional. i
use xp home, and would like to know if there is any way at all, to either
download it somewhere, or pull it off my xp setup disk? what if i borrowed
someones xp professional setup disk, could i somehow get the policy editor
installed from that, onto my xp home computer? how can i get microsoft group
policy editor on my xp home machine?

It is only available in Windows XP Professional. Buy XP Pro.

It can't be installed or run in XP Home. However the changes made with the
Group Policy Editor are just registry changes which can be effected
manually.

John,

You can search the Microsoft website & get the list of registry keys that
the gpedit.msc uses.

Of course you have the pol, man & dat files to make them official policy
settings, but the registry is basically what they manipulate

Unless you know what you are doing I don't suggest you play around with the
registry, but its how everyone starts.

What types of things are you hoping to achieve? Maybe someone here can help
you.
