Default Ground Hog Day

I have Windows XP updates notifying me to install a high-prioroity
kernel update, KB931784. It downloads and says it installs
successfully the update, but then a few minutes later I get the same
gold shield in the tray, telling me the exact same update is needed.
No matter how many time I install it, or even if I download and
install it manually from the MS web site, I get the same notice, as if
it was never installed.

How can I remedy this?

Thanks.

Download that update from this site:
"Security Update for Windows XP (KB931784)"
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...d-a9f1eae19b51

Next, install that update using the following parameter:
Start > Run: "<Path>\WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe" /o

The problem should be resolved after reboot.
