Getting "No operating system"
When I boot, I get "No operating system" after the HP logo screen, does this
mean my HDD has stopped working?

If not, it certainly means that you're in BIG TROUBLE if you don't
have a backup.

Not necessarily.
What happened immediately before this message began to appear on boot?

The computer was up and running for a few days as always, I rebooted and it
was the very next thing to happen, I'll check out your posted links.
