Default folders will not close

Am running XP Home Edition on 2 computers. Have had trouble with one. Now the
other is starting to have the same problem. Folders -My Documents and My
Videos will not close. The contents of the folders will go away but am left
with a white screen showing. Click the red at the top right corner, nothing
happens. Click on the My Documents in the task bar to close it , and nothing
happens. On occasion the end program box will come up and the folder will
close. Most of the time the only way to close the folders is to re-boot
machine. Sometime will have to just shut down by pressing the off button and
then re-start. Hope someone can help! Thanks

Have you ever tried using Ctrl-Alt-Del to open the Task Manager?
