Default files not going to recycle bin

hello,
I have had this problem for years now on my computer. Now I really want to
solve this mystery of my recycle bin! lol. My problem is that any file i
delete does not go to my recycle bin. When I click on my recycle bin, it
goes into the bin, but no files are in there. I have checked properties and
the "do not move files to the recycle bin" is not checked. The" display
delete confirmation dialog" is checked. Also, the maximum size of recycle
bin is at 100%. I never get an error when i delete anything, the file gets
deleted, but I would like it to go to the recycle bin. I am using windows
xp. If anybody can help with my question , i would really appreciate it!
Thanks

Have you ever used any Norton products. If yes are still using one?
Please name it.

Yes. I have the Norton Antivirus 360, which we got for free through att
yahoo. Also, when we first got the computer, it had a norton program already
installed ( Norton utilities 2003 for windows). At that time we had a
different virus protection program in use, because The Norton program never
worked, it needed to be updated, I have tried to delete it, but I get an
error that says the file was corrupted, and the unistall will not continue.
I hope this makes sence to you. Thanks for your help.

You need to find out if Norton Protected Storage exists on your computer
and whether files deleted are going there.

Default Re: files not going to recycle bin

I read that I am supposed to right click on my recycle bin and click
properties. From there The Norton Protection Recycle Bin Properties dialog
box appears. I did that and it does not appear. So I am guessing I dont have
the Norton protection storage on my conputer. I do have Norton on my
computer, so I would think that I do have the storage protection, but I cant
find it. I can disable Norton for a minuite and see if it works, but the
problem is that the guy who brought the computer to us already had stuff on
the computer, and He had Norton installed, i cant get rid of it, because it
gives me an error message saying the file is not valid or it is corrupt and
that it will stop the unistallation process. So I can disable the Norton
program that I put on the computer, but I cant do anything with the Norton
program that was already on the computer when I got it. Sorry this is
turning into a big pain. I really appreciate your help. Sooooo, now what do I
do?
Thanks
