Default Explorer View of "My Computer" hanging

When I try to view "my computer" in Explorer, it is not populating, in spite
of how long I leave the window up. When I right click on my computer on the
start panel and choose properties, it comes up and everything seems normal,
but, it takes a really long time to come up.

What is wrong and how do I fix it?
Thanks!
Sue

In a command prompt (start | run | cmd <enter>), type
net use <enter>

If you see network connections/drive mappings to inaccessible
devices/servers, that might explain it. You can use

net use * /del <enter>

....to remove them.
