This is a further inquiriy to go along with a question I asked earlier,
regarding cable access. My system's diagnostics says that I have a network
adapter type ethernet 802.3. Does this this mean I have the appropiate card?
I checked the back of my system unit, and there appears to be a slot which
somewhat matches the picture that one of my respondents posted. Would you all
say this is correct?

Again, it depends *entirely* upon the specific make/model cable modem
that you're going to use. Why are you keeping this key piece of
information a secret? Why haven't you directed these questions to the
people best suited to give you accurate answers: your cable provider?

It should look like an oversized phonejack, with 6 to 8 pins instead of
the two or four a phonejack normally has. It reads to me like you're
good-to-go.
The cable company's modem may have both a NIC/Ethernet connection and a
USB connection, so I think it'll be a simple matter to get you going.
