Default ESENT error

I am getting an error in the event log:

wuauclt (3288) Database recovery/restore failed with unexpected error -551.

Help and support says it is an ESENT error.

Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 454
Source: ESENT
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: RESTORE_DATABASE_FAIL_ID
Message: %1 (%2) %3Database recovery/restore failed with unexpected error %4.

This started after the last automatic update, and I get an error when I go
to the windows update site.

error number 0x80248011

I have cleared the cache, internet files, history in IE and in FF.

Since the error started on Tuesday, my computer is also taking a long time
to shut down and has restarted a few times. I am not sure if this is related,
but it just recently started, and I can only guess that something is corrupt.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Default RE: ESENT error

To fix this error 0x80248011. Try the following in the command prompt.:

Click on Start -> run -> type command "cmd" (without the quotes) and
command prompt will appear.
After you are in command prompt type the following commands.

1) net stop wuauserv
2) cd /d %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
3) rd /s DataStore
4) net start wuauserv

Then try to run windows update.

Hope I could help.

Default RE: ESENT error

Thanks so much! I was able to download the new updates (which I thought I had
done on Tuesday) and the ESENT error is gone.
