Default dvd/cd probs

forgive me if this seems a bit rushed but am still recovering from the fact
that I can't find my last post, but here goes again!!My DVD/CD drive was
working fine until recently.I could play games,DVD's and music CD's.I also
had no problem burning(DVD's as files only). But now all I can do is play
audio CD's and DVD's-can't play games or burn ANYTHING!My pc has had a lot of
items removed recently so am wondering if something has been removed or
changed that shouldn't have or is drive kaputt?Have tried to go to restore
point but that hasn't worked for a little while(goes through all the motions
but when it reboots I am informed that it hasn't worked and that nothing on
my pc has been changed. As you can see from the bottom of page I am a newbie
and would appreciate any help given.Go on guys get your thinking caps on,cat

Default RE: dvd/cd probs

CD drives don't exactly have an exemplary reliability record. I would try
substituting the drive before doing a load of (perhaps unnecessary) damage to
the software.
