Default Crypting and protecting a folder in an USB Drive

Hi guys,

I just purchased an external USB 2 500Gb Drive.
Now I have to do something on a different folder. I would like to copy
some private data in a folder in the USB drive.
I would like to find a software that would let me to crypt or protect
this particoular folder (and this folder only, not the whole drive). I
would like something that is resident in the external drive so if I
can connect it to another PC the folder would remain protected asking
me a password before access it. The folder should be authomatically
locked whenever I turned off the pc so I would always have it locked
and protected even if I forget to explicitly lock it.
Do you know any software that does it or does something similar?
Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks a lot

mario

PGP

Credant

Each of these has a way to do file & folder encryption - specific to
what you are looking for.

Well I didn't find anything really useful in none of the aboce,
Credant is business oriented,
PGP has different solution but the only one usable on external drive
is to crypt the entire
drive, thing that I don't want. I just need to crypt single or
multiple folders.

Checkout freeware TrueCrypt
<http://www.truecrypt.org>
Read the manual's "Traveller Mode" section.
It doesn't protect folders directly, but rather creates a "virtual
disk", mountable via password, that is encrypted on the fly.

John
