Computer locks when an application is waiting

Hey folks!

Problem with my computer:
-Turion One-Core-cpu. with 2 GhZ/512 KB L2-Cache
-HD: 60 GB; 5400 UPM; 8 MB Cache
-Chipsatz: ATI Xpress 1100
-1 GB RAM; Pagefile disabled
-OS: Windows XP SP2 with all updates

1.) When I put a disc into the drive; e.g. Nero or explorer locks up till
the cd spinned up.

2.) When I open a website and play a flashvideo and minimize the window, the
sounds stucks for one second.

3.) I just wanted to scroll the cover flow list in iTunes. It started to
load data (I think the covers) from the hd. Parallel I wanted to chat - but
what was that: The Miranda window locked up! :-O

How much free disk space on your hard drive?

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

Pagefile disabled. Why is this as it it is?
