Default clean installation

Just did a clean installation of xp home (3 times) and encountered a
'problem' along the way at the same spot. During the installation process
where we are suppose to enter a name/cd key, there is a flury of blinking and
it will stop when I click the mouse to enter the cd key or user name. In a
way the installation completes. Updated the window. Copy back my old data and
it seems to be infected and clean/quaratine it with AVG. Its backdoor trojan
and gabot.

NowI lost my internet connection (wireless) and thre is no ip/subnet mask
and gateway. When I try to uninstall the linksys wireless adapter, I was
unable to installed as it gives this message "" The Installshield engine
(kernel32) could not be launch. The PRC server is unavailable""

Also cp>network connection>no icons in the connection pge. How can I rectify
the problem
