Can not switch user accounts

Not able to switch user accounts unless I completely log off one account to
switch to the other. Have always been able to do this, except yesterday I
had to contact my ISP because my LAN and internet connection had completely
vanished!! Internet is OK now.

Have gone in to Control Panel / User Accounts and the Fast User Switching
box is ticked.

Can someone please help me.

Have you installed any software since the Fast User Switching stopped
working? If so, what & does it (user switching) work again once you
uninstalled this application?

Go to Administrative Tools / Services. Is Fast User Switching set to
Automatic, and is it started?

Nothing at all. Only starting up internet connection again.
